Ministry of minority affairs, government of India provides a post-matric scholarship scheme for meritorious students from minority communities. The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of minority community so as to provide them better opportunities for higher education, increase their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employability.

The administrative department of SMIT plays an important role between the student and government so that maximum number of students are benefited by this scheme. Yearly, scholarship of approximately 8 lacs rupees is awarded by the government to SMIT students.
